Point Park's professional theater company-- a.k.a. the REP -- will be presenting the Pittsburgh premiere of "The Exonerated" as part of its 2005-06 play series. The play is based on interviews with 88 Americans who were sentenced to death and then exonerated. The show had a two-year run off-Broadway, followed by a national tour that included celebrity actors such as Eric Bogosian, Gabriel Byrne, Mia Farrow, Jeff Goldblum, Marcia Gay Harden, Bebe Neuwirth, Aidan Quinn, Brooke Shields, Kathleen Turner, Ben Vereen and Debra Winger.
John Amplas is directing the REP's production, which will run Jan. 25-Feb. 12. The Innocence Institute plans on holding "talk backs" after six shows in which people who were exonerated, attorneys, law enforcement officials and other experts on wrongful convictions will speak. More details to follow.
