Exonerated inmate speaking at Duquesne

Kirk Bloodsworth Posted by Hello

Kirk Bloodsworth, who was the first U.S. death row inmate exonerated by DNA evidence, will speak next week at Duquesne University. Bloodsworth was wrongly convicted of killing a nine-year-old Maryland girl and spent nine years in prison. Barry Scheck's Innocence Project at Yeshiva University's Cardozo Law School, which specializes in DNA cases, helped secure his freedom in 1993.

Bloodsworth just released a book on his experiences and will be signing copies. I saw him speak at Yeshiva last month and it was powerful stuff. I recommend checking out this event.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 5-7 p.m. at Duquesne's Bayer Learning Center.
